To continue with Olivia's blog on the Primetime Emmy Winners, I also wanted to add another winner, who is also rumored to have had plastic surgery.
For her role in the HBO movie Grey Gardens, Jessica Lange won an emmy. Although, she refuses to admit she has had any work done, it is rumored that she has had Botox, a facelift, and a browlift. At the age of 60, I think Jessica needs to come to terms with the surgeries she's had and admit that she has gone under the knife-at least once. Her face does look as though it has been worked on, especially when she makes such an expression as this when she received her award.
Congratulations to the winners of this year's Primetime Emmy's! Can't wait to watch next year's.
I know this report is coming a little late, but better late than never!!! The 2009 Emmy Awards like years past did not disappoint in the glamour department. The red carpet this year was a picture of elegance and very "Old Hollywood". I loved all of the muted color palettes and swept up hair. Some of my favorites were Drew Barrymore, Debra Messing, Christina Applegate, and Sandra Oh. In addition to the Hollywood starlets were some extremely beautiful funny ladies. Tina Fey and Kristin Chenoweth were stand outs in that genre. Speaking of Kristin Chenoweth, I thought her acceptance speech was adorable as usual. She wore a beautiful "mirrored" Zuhair Murad cocktail dress. I did notice that she looked extremely "fresh". In particular her forehead. It was a bit stiff looking. We all know that before these award shows the stars make sure to get the "whole injectable package" and spa treatments. I just felt she looked a bit too overdone. She is so stunning and would have benefited from a lighter hand. Her skin is flawless and it's beauty could really stand alone!! Either way it was an amazing evening and we are so happy she took home an Emmy for best supporting actress in a comedy. Congrats Kristin!
If any of you got a look at Stephanie Pratt (The Hills) you probably didn't even know it was her! It seems that she has undergone a plastic-makeover. At age 23, Ms. Pratt is wasting no time in getting the look she wants. It appears that she has gotten her some injections or collagen to plump up her lips and a rhinoplasty to give her nose more definition.
I'm sure most of you have heard of the Kanye West/Taylor Swift drama so I won't get into that/ But, rumors have circulated in regards to Taylor having had rhinoplasty and breast augmentation. When looking back at older photos of Taylor, there has been no change in her nose that weren't due to growing up and growing into her face. Regarding the rumor on breast augmentation-Taylor clearly has natural breasts. Looking at photos from the VMA's, Taylor could not have possibly had any augmentation and is certainly all all-natural girl.
Beyonce, who has always been a classy woman has also appeared to have had rhinoplasty. Of course, this nose job is a very natural looking one and the surgeon did a great job to give it more definition as well. According to Makemeheal, Beyonce has also gotten liposuction and possibly breast augmentation.
Well, until next years VMA's-or rather til next week. I'm signing off
I am home watching Dancing With the Stars (you all know about my reality t.v. addiction) and I logged on to write a 'nothing but positive' blog about how great the forty and up club looked at the Emmy awards the other night (Kate Walsh you are my hero!) when out of the corner of my eye I saw something that appeared to be jumping through my flat-screen, possibly about to attack me, and it turned out to be Joanna Krupa's lips. So after taking a moment to let my heart rate return to normal I decided to do a little research on this celebrity I had never heard of (I doubt there is a male on the planet who could say the same). After a quick google search I found out that Joanna is 30 years old and I couldn't help but think that her plastic surgery is working against her (from the neck up anyway). When someone has obvious enhancements to the face like she does my first thought is "What is she trying to hide? Wrinkles? Age spots?" It makes me think the person is trying to look younger rather than better, and that implies a birth year way before 1979. Talk about reverse effect! If your plastic surgery is making people question whether or not you are older than your actual age you might want to find a new injector. To bring it back to my favorite forty somethings, forget thirty, some of these ladies could pass for twenty-five if they weren't famous making every detail of their life public knowledge. So my advice to all the women in their thirties out there is to learn from your "elders" otherwise you will be asked if you want a half-price ticket at the movies way before them. How ironic, the series premiere of Cougar Town is about to start. I can hardly wait to spend the next half hour with Courtney Cox and her fabulous, natural looking injections, and put the scary lip experience behind me.
Does it sound to good to be true to increase your breast size and slim down your tummy or thighs at the same time? On Wednesday morning, Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocey on cable TVs top rated morning news show, Fox and Friends, interviewed me on the newest procedure in breast enhancement by fat transfer from other areas of the body. Possible interference with mammography and breast cancer are discussed as well as the technique used for this method used to enhance the female breast. I am Dr. Jennifer Walden, and serve as the program director of the Dept of Plastic Surgery at Manhattan, Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and performs breast augmentation, lift, and reduction surgery in New York.
For years, saline and silicone implants have served as the most effective method for breast augmentation, and many studies and FDA approval declare both saline and silicone implants to be safe. Breast augmentation has been the most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedure in recent years.
The relatively uncommon fat transfer breast augmentation procedure has women everywhere buzzing about the benefits of this seemingly more natural breast enhancement option. Present clinical evidence does not conclude that fat grafting is safer or better than saline or silicone implants, but the idea of taking ones own fat and repositioning it to augment the breasts is rapidly capturing the attention of medicine, consumers, and the media.
Breast enhancement using fat grafts (lipoaugmentation) rather than silicone or saline implants employs fat suctioned from the patients buttocks, thighs or other fatty areas. This type of breast surgery can be used to increase the size of the breast or to fill in defects or abnormalities in existing breasts, including enhancing the appearance after breast reconstruction and softening the look of existing implants. Fat injections of the breasts may offer patients augmentation with a natural look and feel and the benefit of body contouring through liposuctionwithout the requirement for incisions or implants.
However, long-term safety and efficacy data as well as the effect of the procedure on breast cancer screening using mammography is still being evaluated in clinical studies. Concerns about fat grafting for breast enhancement include unpredictable or low survival rates of the transferred cells (which are frequently absorbed by the body), development of cysts, calcification and tissue scarring. Another major concern is long-term problems with breast cancer detection due to difficulties in telling the difference on mammograms between calcifications associated with breast cancer and calcifications associated with fat transfer.
This procedure does offer a modest opportunity for enhancement specifically, about one cup size increase and the degree of enlargement will depend on the amount of spare fat that the patient has. But, numerous questions remain about this new technique: How much of the fat survives? Does the procedure have to be repeated? Are the breasts hard and uncomfortable for long periods after the procedure? And most importantly, what are the cancer implications of this technique? Research projects, funded by the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (ASERF) of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are being conducted to determine the safety and efficacy of breast enhancement with fat.
In the meantime, plastic surgeons will continue to study the intricate details of the procedure for the safety of our patients namely, the techniques of harvesting, preparation, and placement of the fat tissue, who should receive fat transfer, when it is appropriate, and whether it is safe for the long term. Results of clinical studies this far seem promisingso maybe going up a cup size with the benefit of a little liposuction elsewhere will be common practice at some point. Anyone reading this should be aware that this procedure is very technique dependent and to avoid complications it must to be done correctly by a properly trained, board-certified plastic surgeon. Methods for tissue harvest and tissue injection have been refined, as fat cells are carefully removed by a specialized liposuction procedure using numerous syringes and transferred to the breast via dozens of minutely small injections. This technique results in increased survival of the fat cells.
Autologous fat grafting is currently used for touching up reconstructed breasts which it is safe and effective for given that the breast tissue has already been removed and these patients are getting routine surveillance imaging. The procedure can also soften the appearance of existing implants and hide visible rippling which is particularly apparent in very thin women with a bony chest wall and little skin or fat with which to work. The amount of fat injected with these procedures is usually a lot less than that used in breast augmentation as well. So, the take home message here is the more long-term clinical trials involving multiple centers as well as radiologist and oncologists need to be done before a blanket endorsement of the procedure can be made. It also serves to mention that this would not be the method of choice for breast augmentation in women who have had or have a family history of breast cancer.
Are you dying to know?? Is it a new hot trend from the runways of Prada, Gucci, or Diane Von Furstenberg?? Why, no it's not.....according to the newest issue of UsWeekly magazine (on news stands now) it is what they are coining "The Trout Pout".....ps. this is said with a HEAVY blanket of sarcasm. :) It seems like everywhere you turn these days celebrities are obsessed with very full lips. I think the "Trout Pout" used to be something that was the exception, but it becoming more and more like the rule. I have a feeling that as lip enhancement procedures continue to grow in popularity we are going to see some "fishy" looking lips more often. It seems that many celebs are just extremely over injected.
Getting injections to your lips can be a great beauty tool. I mean who doesn't want to look more kissable?? The most important thing is to remember that "less is more", and sometimes "more is just well, more". Make sure to take your time in choosing a board certified plastic surgeon to administer your injections. Feel free to have a conversation prior to your injection to discuss any concerns you might have. Most lip injections are not permanent, but usually they last anywhere from 6-9 months.....that can be a LONG time with over puffy lips. If after the injection you feel your lips are not as plump as you would like them....most surgeons will touch up any areas that you are not happy with.
So, let's add a perfect pout to our fall wardrobe, but hold the fish....please!
Nileen Namita may not be a celebrity, but she sure is famous for the plastic surgeries she has had. In case you haven't heard, this woman from England believes that she is the reincarnation of the Egyptian Queen, Nefertiti. In 1987, Nileen began her quest to complete the look she believed that fit her. According to Nileen, she underwent psychoanalysis at age 29 and came to the conclusion that the dreams she was having were due to the fact that she was, in fact the reincarnation of Nefertiti. According to one source, Nileen has had eight rhinoplasties, three chin implants, an eyebrow lift, six mini facelifts, two lip surgeries, five eye surgeries, and countless minor surgeries in her quest to look like the Egyptian Queen. She has had more than 50 cosmetic surgery procedures and has spent over $330,000 on these procedures-clearly she has helped her plastic surgeon pay off his mortgage and bmw (one would assume-*jokes*) Nileen's case is certainly an odd one, considering most people want to change their appearance in order to look like a celebrity-while she wanted to go way back and look like an Egyptian Queen. Clearly, this woman has a case of body dysmorphia and should be treated-no surgeon should encourage these surgeries, regardless of the profit they will make. Oh, did I mention she has three children? I hope they don't have the same disorder as their mother but help her to feel like her own person and not like Nefertiti. Source: softpedia
My apologies in advance for the cliche but I just can't help it, these ladies REALLY are just like a fine wine...they only get better with age! As Carrie and crew are busy filming the Sex and the City move sequel their pictures are everywhere and the public is obsessed with trying to figure out details of the script. I on the other hand, being a plastic surgery physician assistant, am too busy trying to figure out what these ladies are doing to look this fabulous at forty AND fifty something that I don't have time to think about the plot. There is not a wrinkle or unwanted fold in sight, and at their ages this can only mean two things...Botox & Dermal Fillers! They are all doing a great job at maintaining their youthful appearance and I applaud them for not going overboard. Not one of the fab four is too frozen, plumped, tight, or without expression. They all look very natural, and as always their bodies look fantastic and their fashion is to die for. Keep up the good work ladies and I can hardly wait until May 28, 2010 when I will be first in line to see SATC2. By then I will probably be the only one who doesn't know how the movie ends...
I hope everyone has started their week well. Usually this blog is reserved for comments on what celebrities may have had cosmetically done, who's had a make-over, what new surgical procedures and products are available to consumers, among other things. Today, however, I would like to dedicate this blog to a great star, Patrick Swayze, who according to multiple sources has passed away on Monday, September 14 to pancreatic cancer at age 57. I remember the first time I saw him was in Dirty Dancing and it was love at first sight! Although he was extremely masculine he made his dance numbers seem as easy as pie, like any joe could wake up one day and dance like Swayze. And then came Ghost co-starring Demi Moore, that movie made everyone want to take pottery lessons ASAP! That's whats so great about him, he could have been an action hero a la Arnold Swartzenager or Steven Seagal, but he chose to be portrayed as a sensitive and hopeless romantic. And honestly it didn't seem like he had to force it or act like one, I think he was a genuinely nice, humble and sensitive guy. He will be greatly missed, Rest In Peace.
Like everyone else these days I have been enjoying all the "vampire drama" everywhere you turn....books, movies, TV shows.....it is vampire mania EVERYWHERE! I personally have eyes for ONE vampire in particular.....but, I digress! ;) Anyway, one of my favorite new guilty pleasures is the HBO drama True Blood. I will admit that before I started watching the show I read the entire book series and really loved them, so I was skeptical that I would even like HBO's attempt at bringing these awesome books to life. Well, after watching the first episode I was HOOKED.....or as they would say in Bon Temps....glamoured! ;) True Blood is at the end of it's second season on HBO and in addition to the great writing for this show the casting is just dead on....no pun intended! In the last aired episode we were introduced to the much awaited character, Sophie-Ann, Queen of Louisiana. This exciting new character is played by none other than actress Evan Rachel Wood.....again BRILLIANT casting. I was super excited to see Ms. Wood play the young Queen, but I was just floored at how different she looks. I mean we were first introduced to Evan Rachel Wood years ago when she played Tracy Freeland in the break out movie Thirteen. She was so young back then, and I understand that as she matured into a woman there were some natural changes. I just couldn't get over how much her face had changed from that cute girl in the movie. Anyway, I began to look over some pictures of Ms. Wood over the years. There is no doubt that she has blossomed into a STUNNING woman. I will say that it appears she might have undergone rhinoplasty at some point....her nose looks significantly slimmer, and the tip appears to have been rotated a bit. It also seems that she may have had some injections done to her now fuller lips. I searched the web to see if there were any reports of the actress going under the knife and all I found were a few speculations here and there. I wondered if maybe she used Botox as well, as her skin is FLAWLESS in every picture.....but, I really think this is just someone who is blessed with youth and great skin. Although, I am sure she does light peels now and then to keep that porcelain skin glowing! No matter what she has or hasn't done I think she is just gorgeous and absolutely the perfect actress to play Queen Sophie-Ann. I look forward to watching her beautiful face on True Blood for many seasons to come!
Reality television has taken over the airwaves and no one is a bigger fan than I am. I can hardly sleep sometimes wondering who will get the final rose! Reality t.v. shows are all the same in the sense that they take people from their anonymous everyday lives and turn them into household names overnight. What happens to these people when the season ends? For the lucky few there are five minutes of fame, but for most, they immediately return to their mundane lives as if their glimpse of hollywood life was nothing more than a weird dream. There are a few shows that in my opinion separate themselves from the pack by sending home "forever changed" contestants. There is The Biggest Loser which truly saves lives with the diet/exercise regimens contestants learn on the show. Then there are shows like The Swan and Extreme Makeover which document physical transformations through plastic surgery. People magazine has a "where are they now?" article in the current issue which catches up with some of these people years after their shows aired. My favorite is the couple from Extreme Makeover 2004, James & Kacie, who met on the show and fell in love during their makeovers, bandages and all! They have two children together and although their marriage ended, they are both very happy with new significant others and credit the show for giving them new lives that wouldn't have been possible otherwise. James says he is done with plastic surgery, but Kacie having had 3 kids since the show aired thinks a tummy tuck might still be in her future. Whether we are watching or not, we wish her the best and look forward to meeting new reality stars in the future who will provide us with entertainment, and themselves a chance at a new life.
I hope everyone had a happy and safe Labor Day weekend. Now that everyone is back to the grind I wanted to start off this week's blog with Britney Spears and family. And no, she didn't shave off her hair or smash cars with umbrellas or getting into fights with her mom, on the contrary............ she and her little sister Jamie Lynn Spears looked absolutely amazing during a family trip to Miami on August 31 (Source: US Weekly). I'm so happy to see her spending time with her boys and proving to the world that she's slowly but surely making a comeback by getting fit and healthy and spending time with people who care about her well-being. Too bad I can't say the same about Britney's ex husband Kevin Federline- he looks like he might want to get on Brit's exercise bandwagon. He's a handsome guy and was very fit as he was once a dancer. Some diet and exercise should trim that body down to get his former body back.I honestly believe that both sisters did not have any type of surgery done, from what I can see there are no signs of incision sites on their abdomens indicating liposuction or an abdominoplasty. They looks like they worked hard at the gym, ate healthy, and I'm pretty sure their young age and great genes played a role in getting their bodies back in shape. Keep up the rockin' bodies girls!!
I know we have blogged quite a bit about Playboy's favorite ex-girlfriend, but she is in the news again talking about her past surgeries as she stars in the Peepshow revue in Las Vegas. In the popular revue Madison shimmies down to just a thong giving audiences quite a good look at the "after" results of her plastic surgeries. The tabloid magazine Life and Style recently interviewed Holly about her stint in Vegas show and revealed some of the reasons why she decided to go under the knife. Like many young girls she said that she used to stuff her bra to compensate for her small chest size. She even goes on to say that when she was in a serious relationship she would have to "phase down" the stuffing so it wouldn't be such a shocker when she was in an intimate situation. I absolutely cracked up when I read that...."phase down" the stuffing....brilliant!
Holly also explains that she never seriously considered plastic surgery until she moved into the Playboy mansion and became one of Hef's girlfriends. She states that being photographed all the time makes you evaluate your features. Although she received no pressure from Hef, she decided to have rhinoplasty and breast augmentation in 2003 and 2001 respectively. The blond beauty says that without the plastic surgery she wouldn't be where she is today in the entertainment business. Madison is currently has been seen in such shows as The Girl's Next Door, Dancing with the Stars, and now Peepshow. Everyone here in the office thinks Madison is a stunner and look forward to seeing her continue her climb in the business!
Kendra Baskett and Kourtney Kardashian recently graced the cover of US Weekly bringing national attention to a new generation of breast-feeding women. The "mommies with implants" have arrived! According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 2008 marked the first year in the twelve years on record that breast augmentation was the #1 performed cosmetic surgical procedure. It was also the #1 most popular surgery among the "very fertile" age group of 19-34 which means lots of babies being born to surgically enhanced mothers. Kendra and Kourtney are both quoted in the magazine as saying they are planning on breast-feeding their babies. Kendra specifically talks about her fears of being unable to breast-feed because of her implants (not true in most cases) and Kourtney mentions being told it likely would not be a problem. A common misconception in society is that implants=bottle-fed babies which is far from true. There is a chance women who have not undergone breast augmentation will not be able to breastfeed and this risk goes up only slightly for women who have (percentages vary based on incision site and implant placement). I have a good feeling that Kendra and Kourtney are both going to have happy, healthy, breast-fed babies and if their breasts happen to droop or shrink, as they often like to do once the milk is gone, going to the operating room for a touch up will be a walk in the park for these surgical veterans.
As I went to check my AOL mail account, I noticed an article concerning Demi Moore's plastic surgery in their newsfeed. Rumors have circulated around Demi's possible plastic surgery saying that she has spent over $500K in order to maintain her gorgeous figure and girlish looks. According to "The Telegraph," the actress has claimed that she has not gone under the knife. Moore also told Marie Claire France, "It's completely false, I've never had it done. But I would never judge those who have." According to other sites, Moore has supposedly had a breast augmentation and possibly a breast lift. Rumors also swirl about possible liposuction of her hips and abdomen, as well as a brow lift, Botox injections, and chemical peels. It appears to me and other sources that a rhinoplasty may have also been in the mix. (Source:stars).
Of course, one might believe the actress (46) is only trying to stay as youthful-looking as her hottie husband, Ashton, who is 31. Although Moore does look unbelievably fantastic for her age, she will not confirm these rumors and denies having any sort of nip/tuck. Of course, we may never know the truth, but we appreciate that she has kept up and is a proud member of the cougar hall-of-fame!
