Kobe Bryant divorce: Vanessa cites 'irreconcilable differences'

Kobe Bryant and Vanessa Bryant said they have "resolved all the issues" related to their divorce in private and that final court papers will be filed next year.
Vanessa Bryant filed for divorce in Orange County Superior Court on Friday afternoon, stating her intentions to end her 10-year marriage to the Lakers star.
A computer record of the divorce filing does not contain details of the divorce. But a copy of the filing obtained by TMZ.com shows that Vanessa Bryant cited "irreconcilable differences."

In a statement released by their publicist, the couple said a final judgment for the marriage will be filed with the Orange County court in 2012.

"We ask that in the interest of our young children and in light of the upcoming holiday season the public respect our privacy during this most difficult time," they said in the statement.

The couple also asked for privacy in a statement to "The Insider" TV show.

Vanessa Bryant is being represented by noted divorce attorney Laura Wasser.

Kobe and Vanessa Bryant have been married for more than 10 years.

One week after Kobe Bryant's Los Angeles Lakers were denied a trade that would have landed superstar point guard Chris Paul, Kobe received more bad news.

Kobe Bryant's wife, Vanessa, filed for divorce on Friday from the Los Angeles Lakers star, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split from her husband of more than 10 years.
Vanessa Bryant signed the papers on Dec. 1. Kobe Bryant signed his response on Dec. 7 and it was filed Friday, according to the documents.
The filing of the documents comes more than eight years after Vanessa Bryant stuck by the basketball icon when he was accused of sexually assaulting a Colorado woman. The case was dropped when his accuser refused to testify, but the former league MVP admitted being unfaithful to his wife and settled a civil suit filed by the woman.
Unnamed sources told celebrity news website TMZ that Vanessa Bryant was filing for divorce because she believed her husband had been unfaithful again.
"She's been dealing with these incidents for a long time and has been a faithful wife, but she's finally had enough," one source said. "This one is the straw that broke the camel's back."
A representative for the couple released a statement saying, ''The Bryants have resolved all issues incident to their divorce privately with the assistance of counsel and a Judgment dissolving their marital status will be entered in 2012.''

In the filing, Vanessa Bryant asked for joint legal and physical custody of the couple's two daughters, Natalia, 8, and Gianna, 5. Kobe Bryant asked for the same in his response. Vanessa Bryant also requested spousal support. Kobe Bryant has earned roughly $200 million — not including endorsements — during his 15-year career with the Lakers, but may have to give up half of his assets as part of a divorce settlement, as the couple is not believed to have signed a prenuptial agreement, TMZ reported.
Bryant met his future wife in 1999 on a music video shoot when Vanessa Laine was 18 years old. Six months later, she and the then-21-year-old Bryant became engaged. They married on April 18, 2001 after Bryant had turned 22.
When Kobe Bryant was charged with sexual assault in 2003, she appeared at a news conference, holding his hand and stroking it tenderly as the NBA star admitted he was guilty of adultery — but nothing else. Earlier, she had issued her own statement to the media, vowing to stand by her husband.

''I know that my husband has made a mistake — the mistake of adultery,'' she said in the statement at the time. ''He and I will have to deal with that within our marriage, and we will do so. He is not a criminal.''
The case against Kobe Bryant was later dismissed.
Last year, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant settled litigation with a former maid who accused the NBA star's wife of harassment. The Bryants countersued Maria Jimenez for violating a confidentiality agreement by talking to reporters about the family.

Fans and analysts are pointing to several reasons for the Lakers' demise: age, poor perimeter defense, lack of focus.
But the prevailing theory is that Pau Gasol was distracted by the fact that his girlfriend broke up with him right before the playoffs started. To make matters worse, Gasol's girlfriend was apparently counseled and told to break up with him by none other than Mrs. Kobe Bryant.

MTV names Katy Perry its 1st Artist of the Year

NEW YORK (AP) -- Katy Perry's run of No. 1 singles has earned her the distinction of becoming MTV's first Artist of the Year.
Perry topped Adele after a spirited discussion among MTV's internal panel of experts, the network said Thursday. Adele's "Rolling in the Deep" was chosen Top Song of 2011, said Amy Doyle, the network's chief of music programming.
MTV declared Skrillex its Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year over David Guetta.

Different parts of MTV would make "best of" lists in the past, but the network wanted to establish a franchise that brought all its online and TV arms together and emphasized MTV's music roots, Doyle said. The network, established in 1981, hopes it becomes an annual thing.
Seven panelists made the final choice, and their deliberations were featured in MTV programming this week.
"Rolling in the Deep" was an obvious selection as Top Song, Doyle said. Runners-up were Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" and Rihanna's "We Found Love."
"I loved the song the moment I wrote it," Adele said. "The melody and the beat added some conviction to it. I think that's why people connected with it."

Perry's achievement of tying Michael Jackson's "Bad" as the only albums to yield five No. 1 singles was particularly impressive, Doyle said. Along with the title cut, "California Gurls," "E.T.," "Firework" and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" all topped the charts. She's trying to beat the record with the current single "The One That Got Away."
"You just really felt her presence in pop culture throughout the year," Doyle said.
Skrillex, whose real name is Sonny Moore, describes his music as a combination of "dubstep, electro and glitch." MTV included the category of Best Electronic Dance Music Artist to pay tribute to the way the style is taking off with its young viewers, she said.
MTV also asked its viewers to vote on their choice of the best live performances shown on MTV all year. Their choice was "Hurricane" by 30 Seconds to Mars.

Katy Perry Debuts Short, Light Hair At Event With Russell Brand (PHOTOS)

Katy Perry likes to switch it up. A lot.
The often-colorful singer, who most recently sported a pink head of hair, stepped out with husband Russell Brand Saturday night with a brand new 'do. She showed off her lighter, shorter locks -- which now has just a hint of pink -- while posing and smiling with Brand for photographers at the 3rd Annual "Change Begins Within" Benefit Celebration in L.A.
Their appearance at Saturday's event will hopefully settle those recent rumors that there's trouble in paradise for the couple, who have been married since October 2010.
Brand recently appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to downplay the divorce rumors.
"I am really happily married," he said, adding, "I'm married to Katy perpetually. 'Until death do us part' was the pledge. I'm still alive!"

Katy Perry On 'Saturday Night Live' Video: Sketches & Russell Brand

For all her fun songs, music videos and public stunts, Katy Perry will be taking her first real stab at substantial live comedy acting when she hosts "Saturday Night Live." It's a daunting task, but luckily, she's got a pretty seasoned humor expert in her corner.
Also, her bed.
As Perry told MTV, her husband, Russell Brand, has been giving her plenty of advice, based on his own experience hosting the show.
"My husband, of course, every day I call him and I'm like 'this happened,'" she said, "and he's like, 'I know what that means and here's the next play-by-play for tomorrow,' so he's gotten me really prepared for this week, thankfully."
Brand hosted the show last February, to critical acclaim. Much of his episode centered on his exquisite Britishness, including the "British Movie" sketch and the "Royal Taster." Perry, of course, doesn't have that heritage or accent to play, but she does have another prominent asset that the writers of the sketch show wanted to highlight.
"There were a lot of [skit] pitches about my boobs," she recently told Access Hollywood. "I was cool about that, but I'm not sure all of it [got] in. So we'll see."
That they'd be so eager to use her natural gifts to create comedy makes some sense; last year, Perry, as musical guest, generated some big publicity for a sketch that lampooned her Sesame Street debacle.
As for other sketches, she gave MTV a quick preview of what to expect.
"Well, you're gonna see some Hello Kitty, some cockney accents, maybe, and some me flubbing my lines, probably laughing out loud at Kristen Wiig, 'cause she's amazing," Perry said.
There's also that digital short with Matt Damon looking his absolute best to get excited about.

Katy Perry hosts tonight's 'Saturday Night Live': Talk about it here!

Don’t worry Stefon, we’ll tell her. (Psssst Katy, he’s definitely not the one that got away.)

While Katy Perry has appeared on Saturday Night Live before (she was the musical guest during an episode last September, in which she also appeared in a sketch poking fun at herself and her Sesame Street controversy), this will mark the pop star’s first go as a host. Perry will also be accompanied by her touring buddy Robyn, who will be on hand as musical guest for tonight’s brand-new episode. Watch the latest promo featuring Perry, Robyn, and Bill Hader’s Stefon below. (I would have guessed they’d save Stefon for next week’s year-end episode when Jimmy Fallon returns to SNL as host, but an early Stefon arrival is just as good as any early Christmas present.)

Still, the pressure is certainly on Perry, who tends to play up her overtly silly side when going for laughs (see: “Last Friday Night” video), to carry an entire episode by herself. (Especially considering last week’s host Steve Buscemi helped propel his episode to one of this season’s best.) But it seems like she’ll be getting some help. In her first SNL promo spot, Perry joked that her husband Russell Brand, who has hosted the show before, gave her some helpful tips. So, perhaps we can expect — or at least hope for — a cameo from him to help her out even more? But even if Brand doesn’t make an appearance, it seems Perry will be getting a little extra assistance from Matt Damon, who was spotted filming a bit (presumably a Digital Short) with her and Andy Samberg. (Speaking of Damon, the We Bought A Zoo star hasn’t hosted SNL in nearly 10 years. He needs to slip on a pilot uniform and walk briskly right back up to the stage of Studio 8H post-haste.)

Katy Perry Goes Back to Blonde — and Her Stylist Gives us the Scoop

Katy Perry cracked jokes like a pro on Saturday Night Live this weekend, but it seems the singer is also becoming a pro at changing her hair color these days, too. This year alone she’s gone from black to red to blonde to lavender, and now, she’s switched back to blonde, debuting the look Saturday on SNL.
Perry’s colorist, Rita Hazan, loves her latest look. “She wanted to do something different — an easy, effortless honey blonde,” she tells PEOPLE. “She’s having fun with her hair color now, which I love.”
The star also chopped several inches off of her hair last week, rocking what Hazan calls “a really edgy bob.” To complement the cut, she left the ends of Perry’s hair “a little bit darker” to give her some depth. “We didn’t want it too solid or boxy,” she explains. “She has to work something that’s cool.”

Though Perry’s “dream shade” was the lavender she wore all summer, Hazan says she was ready for a change. “That was high maintenance, it fades really fast,” she admits. In fact, the pinky-blonde look Perry sported a week ago was just the result of her color fading. But Hazan does admit that the initial change from blonde to lavender was “genius. It worked with her skin tone, too.”
Constant color changes can be pretty harsh on the hair, but Hazan says Perry is great about at-home conditioning treatments. “I know she does them, because she always calls me and asks me to send her more product,” Hazan jokes. “She takes it seriously because she likes to keep her hair healthy. It doesn’t just stop at the salon — it has to continue at home, too, and she understands that.”
While Perry is seemingly giving her hair a break and enjoying her time as a blonde, Hazan doesn’t see the color lasting for too too long. “I think this will stick for a few months at least,” the stylist says. “But she’s Katy Perry — she can do anything at any moment.” Tell us: What do you think of Perry’s latest hair hue?

Blake Lively Wants Ryan Reynolds to Settle Down

We thought Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were both mutually looking for a few months of fun, but one of them wants to make their relationship into something more than just two good-looking people itching to f**k.

Although Blake is only 24 years old and still plays a naive, over-privileged ditz on a CW show, she wants a serious, adult relationship and is--gasp!--thinking about marriage and baby-making with Ryan.

“Blake is a very traditional girl and loves the idea of marriage and kids. She has spoken about it with Ryan but after his divorce [from Scarlett Johansson], he’s not exactly thinking of settling down and certainly not marriage. He’s told her that he doesn’t want to be tied down.”

Blake is his rebound girlfriend and shouldn’t expect much. He’s just substituting one hot, buxom blonde for another. If she wants to jump ship for more serious options then she should, but Blake has plenty of time to procreate and have her first wedding. Her boobs are going to stay perky for at least a few more years and, knowing the genetic lottery pool (if not Botox), her skin will look just as elastic and shiny.

Janice Dickinson is the kind of washed up reality star who is loud, obnoxious, and likes to sh!t-talk everyone while looking like sh!t. The latest objects of her acid tongue? The Kardashians.

In an interview with Star magazine, she talks smack about everything from Kim’s “heap of lard” @ss to her “disgusting” 72-day “fake sham marriage.” You can say some things about Janice, but you can’t say that she’s not entertaining!

And she’s not afraid to tell ‘em either! Christopher Hitchens Dead at 62

Famed author, journalist, pundit and wit Christopher Hitchens is dead at 62.

Though born in England, Hitchens' commentaries on American politics made him an indispensable part of our cultural landscape. His controversial views on religion, capitalism, and world affairs made him a beloved, but equally hated figure the world over.
Hitchens' controversial attacks on everyone from Bill Clinton to Mother Theresa earned him countless enemies, but his sparkling sense of humor and unmistakable prose style brought him international fame, along with millions of admirers.
On a personal note, I may not have always agreed with his views, but Hitchens' work for Vanity Fair made him one of my biggest influences, and his recent memoir, Hitch-22, elevated him to the status of personal role model. A recent article in VF (which may, sadly, be his last published work) inspired me to take another stab at quitting smoking.
Hitchens succumbed to a long battle with throat cancer, likely brought about by his well-known love of cigarettes and booze. He will be sorely missed and never equaled.

Jason Trawick will be proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Miss Britney Spears, tonight in Las Vegas. Sources confirm that Jason will propose tonight! Don't worry, though, Britney already knows what's going down before the proposal sex.

Spears' conservators have already approved of the proposal. The matter will go before the judge in the conservatorship and it's almost certain that Britney will get the judge's sign off.
Jason asked Britney's cheese greets-lovin' dad if he can propose and there will be a prenup.

Vergara said that "For a long time, I thought that my boobs were too big. I was, like, 14 years old, and I already had these huge boobs."
God is cruel like that. Some chicks are thin and have an abundance of t!ts while other chicks are overweight and they still don't have much going on in the breast department. Ali Lohan: Skinny as Hell!

Whenever new photos of Ali Lohan come out, no one ever mentions that she looks beautiful, or like a normal young girl, instead writers comment on her emaciated frame. Ali has been disappearing before our eyes for months now.

Ali, 17, was pap'd outside of the Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne concert in Los Angeles, which Lindsay also attended, and she looked pretty awful, as you can see.
Ali has signed a modeling contract with Next Model Agency, and when you look like this, the last thing Dina Lohan should do is allow her daughter to model.
Lindsay's younger sister was also spotted in short cut-off shorts and a tank top in Hawaii and she arguably looked even worse in those pics than she does here. SMH.

Simon Cowell Refused to Have Sex With Paula Abdul

Few things in life upset me more than a guy who says that he just can't get down with me. I just think it's code for "I'm gay!" and I ask him when he plans on coming out to friends and family.
While there's no word how Paula Abdul took Simon Cowell's lack of physical contact, at least he let's us know that she wanted to sex him. Only problem was, Simon was all like, 'B!tch, keep your knickers on!'

Simon says that he's considered hooking up with his American Idol and X Factor co-star.
During Barbara Walter's famous 10 Most Fascinating People special, Simon took it there!

"I mean, the truth was, on the first two seasons, we couldn't travel on the same plane together. We really disliked each other that much," Cowell told Walters, arguing that they clashed due to "sexual tension…on her part."

When asked if he thinks Paula wanted a relationship with him, he replied "a million percent."

Not one to hold back, Cowell  continued: "I considered it, but then I thought, 'I don't think the after would be as good as the before.' I'd let her stay for a few hours, but then it would have to be goodnight."

My gawd! Simon's cockiness is pretty sexy! His fiance Mezhgan Hussainy, who he said is "a hot piece of ass," probably agrees.

Jason Trawick was supposed to propose to Britney Spears tonight in Las Vegas, but he already did last night. Britney Tweeted the message below, confirming that she will be the future Mrs. Jason Trawick.

Jason has already planned a celebatory dinner at the Sugar Factor in the Paris Hotel, sources confirm. The bash will feature chocolate truffle cigars and chocolate fondue. After dinner, everyone will head to club Chateau to party. Jason told the staff that anything Britney wants, Britney gets.
