As Promised: Miami Dress #1
I promised you I'd take pics of the 2 dresses I picked up at Nordies for Miami. Well, I'm coming through on one of them. I was too lazy to try them on and take pics, and they just don't look right not worn. This one looks fine, but you can't really tell how cute it is when it's sadly laying on my bed. The other dress definitely looks way cuter on, so maybe you'll get a pic post-Miami
Spotted: Cute Ruffly Dress
I went to Nordies today to find some Miami-rific dresses. I found two, but didn't bother to take pictures of them for you. I will eventually, promise.
But what I did feel totally compelled to snap a pic of (on my phone, sorry, didn't have the dslr) was this adorably be-petaled dress. I think I'm in love. And the prices is pretty sensational. Now if only I had somewhere to wear it.

Beach Getaway Shopping
So, as I do around this time of year, I've decided I need to get away to some place warm, some place with beaches, some place with expensive shopping. So the hubs and I are jetting off to Miami this week.
The trip was a little last minute, but that doesn't mean that I don't have time to order things and get overnight shipping.
But then I started wandering towards maxis. Nothing says beach getaway like a maxi dress
Milly, $435
Diane von Furstenberg, $465

Clearly all I want are dresses. First I thought short and flirty, but casual:
Amanda Uprichard, $192

Wait.... is that Kate?!

With her transition from Jon and Kate + 8 to a potential rumored Playboy bunny, Gosselin is flooding the gossip channels with everything from drama on her new to show, to what we here at the office actually care about: her rumored $35,000 worth of plastic surgery.
This Mommys makeover allegedly consisted of Botox, derma fillers, veneers, chin augmentation, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, hair extensions, the list goes on and on.
They say a picture paints a thousand words, but in this case, these are worth about 35 grand.
Website Spotlight: Basic Boutique
I have friends who blog, but I've never made friends before from blogging. Until recently that is. Yesterday I had the great delight to meet up for brunch with some blogger buddies. They're a great group of girls and I had a blast.
It just so happens that one of these lovely blogger friends I've made is also the owner of Basic Boutique. You might recognize the name from the shopping links on the side bar or some clothing options I've featured here. For an avid online shopper, it was a pretty fun meet up!
This is the lovely Andrea who created and runs Basic Boutique in addition to working a full time job. She's only 29. Isn't that crazy??

So I thought it made sense to do a little spotlight on Basic Boutique and give you some of my faves from the site. Happy shopping and check out Basic Boutique for yourself!
Vena Cava, $395
Loeffler Randall, $325

Got a Wedding? Well, I've Got a Dress For You
Kathy sent me a dress yesterday that was 100% EWP. Ruffles, one-shouldered. Yummy. Only problem? I have nowhere to wear it. The only wedding I have this year is on a beach, and this is definitely not a beach wedding dress. But for any of you with an indoor wedding to attend, or any cocktail event, please please buy this dress. You'll thank me later.
Milly, was $395, sale $264
Maybe I should just buy it and invent an event for myself...

Does that make me crazy? Possibly.
I was a bit hesitant when Jessica at Style Obsession tagged me to show the contents of my bag. Mostly because this is what the inside of a bag should look like:
simple and chic (Jessica, let me know if you want me to take down your picture.) And mine is NOT like that. I don't know how people live with such basic (yet glamorous) contents in their purse. Mine looks nice from the outside:
but when the guts are poured out onto the dining room table... it's a different story:
No, this is not a joke. No, I haven't added anything for comical value. This is really what I tote around on a day to day basis.
So here we go. The hidden story of my life as a purse hoarder.
1. kate spade shoes because sometimes you need a quick break from heels.
2. Four mechanical pencils (I hate pens with a passion and only use them when absolutely necessary.)

So here we go. The hidden story of my life as a purse hoarder.
3. Orbits gum
4. 14 packets of splenda and a starbucks stopper. (I don't know. I'm compulsive every time I walk by splenda. Yes, I know I'm getting cancer.)
5. Beauty products: mirror, nail file, eyeliner, mascara, nail polish, cuticle clippers, lotion, lipstick, two burt's bees, two lip glosses (do I really need to defend these?)
6. Headband, 12 hair ties, four bobby pins (I don't know)

7. stamps, a post-it note with an address that I don't recognize, D&G wallet, a thank you note from a baby shower last month, my work ID badge, sunglasses, tape measure, a key to the office I don't work at anymore...
8. Electronics: flip video camera, cell phone, ipod touch, gps, (camera not shown)
9. Earphones, the USB cord for my camera, car/apartment/mail keys and assorted key chains
10. Cranberry pills, Ambien I snagged from my mom, tampons (TMI?), Tylenol, toothbrush, toothpaste, earplugs (for some reason I am completely paranoid that I am going to get stuck sleeping somewhere and not have toothbrush and earplugs. I'm insane.)
So there you go. I have no excuse. Also, to make things worse, this is the recently cleaned out version. I usually have a sleepmask, superglue, hand wipes, band aids, perfume...
Human Modelling - Clothing
Human Modelling pt. 2
Continuing to develop my human character for the animation, I used the same methods as before to extrude / extend the leg upwards to model the knee and thigh..

To check the shape of the leg - I applied a symmetry modifier and aligned this to the reference image, So far I am impressed with the results..

*before continuing - it was important to take the time here to reshape the leg and brush up on any areas that were abit sloppy, leaving a good clean mesh to work with later.
Waist / Hips
With the legs completed, the hips and groin were modelled.. again simply by selecting the polygons at the top of the model and using the extrude tool with a setting of 5-10.

*Whenever using a symmetry modifier - making sure the inside surface (polygon / edges) are all flat saves a tremendous amount of time correctly errors when aligning the shapes.
With a basic shape for the waist done.. corrections and some remodelling was done to refine the model's overall shape..

Chest
To create the middle and upper body - the top polygons on the waist section were flattened, extended with the extrude tool and carefully modelled in relation to the ref. image I was using..

This section was fairly straightforward and required little readjustments in order to get the desired shape. The difficult part was the side view of the model.. making sure the chest features were shaped correctly.
Arms
The arm required slightly more crafting in order to define certain features such as the upper and lower arm muslces and the elbow section. Just taking the time to carefully extrude bit by bit, I was able to produce a relatively simple arm shape which is versatile when it comes to shape adjustments.

I am very happy with how this has turned out so far - this is the first time I have used the extrude tool to a large extent to create a large model like this!
