Fashion's Night Out - the Outfit

These are the times I wish I had a full-length mirror. Or at least that my husband was around all day everyday in case I needed a photoshoot of myself :)

But, because I'm sure you were dying to know, I did manage to take some (pretty crappy) pics of myself dressed up for Fashion's Night Out. I was a little concerned how hot I could make myself since all my fave go-to hotness wardrobe items no longer fit, but I think I pulled myself together pretty cutely if I do say so myself. It was definitely a night to break out the Loubs or the Prada shoes, but for whatever reason I decided all I wanted to wear in the world were some tall boots. Nevermind that it was 80 out, it was September and gosh darn it, I was going to wear boots. Sorry, Loubs, I'll take you out some other time.

Wish I had a full shot for you, but this is the best you can get.
I am in love with this top. It's cute, it's soft. I need to buy it in every color.
Belt: Banana Republic
Earrings: I forgot, I know it's some brand I always see on celebs in US but I've totally forgotten, sad because I just bought them a couple weeks ago. I blame preggo brain.
Jeggings: Pea in the Pod
Yes, that's right. Jeggings. I'm a total jeggings convert.
Boots (not pictured, but I wish they were): Bandolino

I didn't take my camera to the event because I thought I'd look like a weirdo with a giant camera, but I wish I had. Everyone had cameras! And it would've been great to document the fashion show. Yes, there was a fashion show. Not the most exciting thing in the world, but it did spice up my Friday night. Luckily my friend Niki had her camera, I'll try to steal some pics from her and post them.

Now what will I wear tonight to meet Tim Gunn? (He's doing a book signing on Mich. Ave. tonight)

The Top I Spent Too Much On (Also a Tunics Post)

It didn't make any sense to do a leggings post, without following it up with a tunics post. I mean, what on earth were you going to wear on top of those leggings? And of course I am here to help.

But first, let's discuss my new favorite tunic ever. And how I spent way too much money on it. One day last week, on the way home from dinner, Mr. EWP and I stopped into Pea in the Pod to pick me up a tunic or two to go with all my new leggings I was totally in love with. We didn't know this before we went in, but apparently the Pea in the Pod on Oak Street is the super chi chi fancy pants designer Pea in the Pod and nothing in the store is under $150. Oops.

That, however, didn't stop me from trying on, no exaggeration, 24 tops. All the while Mr. EWP sat and waited for me to actually like one. And then I did. I fell in love with one particular tunic, and walked out of the dressing room. Mr. EWP liked it too but wanted me to try on the fake bump to make sure it'd fit down the road. And OMG, after I put on that fake bump I'm pretty sure I could have gotten Mr. EWP to agree to buying every single item in that store. He was totally in love. But I decided to be reasonable (depending on your definition) and only walked out with this:

Yes, I'm fully aware it's way too much money for a maternity top. But I was totally in love with it. And both Mr. EWP and I envision me wearing it post-pregnancy with a big wide belt. It could happen. And it'd be super cute.

But for the non-preggo set, here are some tunic options just for you:

Hello, My Name is EWP, and I'm a Leggings Convert

I have always been vehemently against leggings. I guess I had seen one too many trashy starlets wearing them as pants with short little shirts and showing off her ladybits. Leggings are NOT pants. This created an aversion in me so strong, that I never ever considered them for me.

But a few weeks ago I met up with my friend, and fellow preggo, Andrea of Basic Boutique and she looked absolutely adorable in a pair of leggings and a big flowy tunic. It got me thinking, hmm... what if I tried leggings?

So I made a little outing to Pea in the Pod and tried on some maternity leggings. And, well, I fell in love immediately.

I want to wear them everyday, but there's only one problem - I don't own any tunics. And these ladybits are definitely staying covered, thank you very much. So I've put in an order to Motherhood Maternity and picked up a way overpriced tunic from Pea in the Pod that I just loved (to be posted later) and am on my way to tunic + legging bliss.

But for all you non-pregnant ladies, I've found some regular leggings, which I will totally be buying post baby. Because, as I said, I'm a total leggings convert.

Velvet, $60

this is how short I am

I ordered a couple pairs of yoga leggings from Victoria's Secret last week because they are great to sit on the couch and watch tv and eat frosties work out in. I ordered this guy:and this guy:both in black. I got them in the mail today and I tried on the first pair thinking they were clearly the ankle version.Good stuff right? Until I tried on the other pair expecting the cropped version:So the first pair was actually the cropped version. And you can't really tell from the picture, but this is with me hiking them up! Yay for being 5'2 1/5"!

P.S. Dear boyfriend, if you are reading this I hate to break it to you but I may never take off these leggings again. They are freaking comfty. Hope you made reservations somewhere legging friendly for Valentines... xoxo
