Modelling the Bat's Head

I started to model the bat's head using this reference image:



I want my characters to have a 'Wallace & Gromit' theme so basing my bat's features on the were-rabbit seemed to fit suitably. Using planes I carefully modelled the outline of the face..



Modelling only half of the head allows me to use the symmetry modifier to get a perfect outline on either side of the face. Note the head is currently at an angle, this was simply to re-create a face from the ref image.

Next the nose was created using the same 'planes' technique..



With the nose and head outlines finished - I can now give each section it's 3D shape..




I did this using the extrude tool and altering the settings carefully to get the result you can see in the screenshots above. The back of the head was smoothed off by adding more polygons using the extrude tool.

To follow this, both sections were 'attached' to become one editable polygon. this was done to ensure the vertices on the ends of both shapes could be connected properly without error or messy mesh results when a smooth modifier is applied.



The weld tool was used to connect each verticie - this took slightly longer than expected as some lines and verticies needed to be reshaped or removed to get a good result..

becoming a baking tornado this weekend. I made this lemon cream pie for my boyfriend's sister's birthday.And I also made Cadbury egg-stuffed cupcakes for Easter. Unfortunately, they were all eaten by the time I remembered to take a picture. At least that means they were good!

UPDATE: I've had some questions about the cupcakes. I didn't follow any official recipe; I just made chocolate cake batter from the box and then dropped an egg into each cupcake cup. Then just bake normally and enjoy! I topped mine with whipped chocolate icing and a peep.

I Promise its Plastic

This weekend I had the opportunity to attend Promises, Promises, the musical comedy. Let me first gush about how great the show was. I have seen a substantial number of shows, and am not always impressed with the performances. However, this one surely made my top 3. It was witty, interesting, creative, and every detail of the musical numbers, stage props and acting were incredibly engaging.

Having been a Kristin Chenoweth fan from her golden Galinda days in Wicked, I was curious to see how her dancing, voice and aging appearance could stand the tests of time as I had not seen her in person since this past February in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2010 where she brought energy and simply grace and beauty to the runway in the Tent.

When I met her outside of the stage door, surprisingly not amongst a bunch of screaming teeny-boppers but a vast array of fans within the 25 to 50 age category, she was nice enough to stop and chat with me for a moment about the book I was asking her to personalize.

She told me that writing her book, A Little Bit Wicked, was one of the hardest things shes ever done, and I responded with � Well it was very well written, I loved it�� and I did, so I highly recommend you read it, especially if you have big dreams, Chenoweth is inspiring and motivational in her recounts of making it in the Big Apple.

But while I was I�ll admit a little bit star struck (I don�t care what any New Yorker says, no matter how many famous people you run into in your everyday life, sometimes you�re still shocked to meet the select few exceptionally talented people you so heavily admire), I couldn�t help but notice how youthful she looked.

Her cheekbones were so prominent, presumably by fillers as I would not guess any surgeries. Additionally, her skin was simply perfection and her forehead was ageless, suggesting skin resurfacing treatments and Botox injections. In the past, a lot of bloggers suspected breast augmentation and although many people claim she just wears great bras, her nighty scene was a little revealing and I don�t think it was Victoria�s Secret that Chenoweth has been keeping these last couple of years.

All in all, she was as beautiful as always and I personally hope the Tony�s give her a nod this year because her performance was as flawless as her face.

sensational stuff I got this week

new beauty:Too Faced bronzer and two Philosophy shower gel/bubble bath/shampoos (I love the fact that my new apartment has two bed and baths so I can say, "O, I need extra for the guest bath." When in actuality I just want more for me.)

and the sad news of the week:I ordered this adorable dress from ModCloth in a small and was very content until I received an email that said, "Unfortunately, due to an error in our inventory count, we are sold out of the Brighton Beach Dress you ordered and will not be able to fulfill your order. I have refunded you in FULL."

So sad right? I suppose it was a sign to stop spending so much money on summer dresses, no?

I am beyond obsessed with headbands. They can dress up a boring ponytail in no time flat and can add some flair to any outfit. I love love love headbands and own a million.
