I have a ridiculous soft spot for polka dots. I don't know why, but I'm kinda sorta obsessed with them. Just seeing the makes me so happy.  But still I wouldn't have said before Sunday that polka dots had a place on the Oscars red carpet.  And I would have been wrong.  Because this vintage gown is perfectly Oscars.  So screen starlet of days gone by.  I want this dress. Like now.

Well, this is a pleasant improvement from the bleeding muumuu at the Globes. Still a bit of a sack like the last look, but a little more baby bump showing, and much much more understated. Hair and makeup are the perfect classic combo for this minimal gown.

Natalie Portman in this pink sack made me SO SO angry. This was by far my MOST HATED look of the night.

First of all, being pregnant does NOT mean you can only wear a caftan. There are plenty of cute preggo-appropriate dresses out there. And they are not mumus.

Second, WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE RED FLOWER????????? To quote my friend Lauren "it looks like her boobs are bleeding." Pink and red can actually go together, this is not one of those situations. HATE HATE.

And unrelated to the dress, can we discuss for a second the extreme awkwardness that was her acceptance speech? What was that weird joke about her fiance knocking her up? And then her insane laugh afterwards? I thought she was drunk but then remembered she's pregnant. It was a total mess.
