Melissa has been wearing some ridiculous stuff on the red carpets.  All custom. All horrible.  But this time her custom gown is actually flattering.  She doesn't look like a giant blueberry.  The chiffon is sweet and feminine, the color isn't garish, and the belt cinches in the right place.  Thank you for finally getting it right, Ms. McCarthy!

Shailene Woodley in Valentino Couture

Shailene has definitely been dancing to the beat of her own drummer this awards season - one night wearing those gross running shoes that show your individual toes, and another night going just barefoot so we literally could see all her toes.  So I guess I'm just happy we can't see her feet in this dress.  I think the sleeves are great on someone so young, it could have been extremely matronly on someone older, but the 20 year old first-time nominee pulled the look off.

Ms. Chastain has been a stellar disappointment this awards season.  She either doesn't have a stylist or has the worst one ever.  She's a gorgeous girl but she's been showing up on red carpet after red carpet in the saddest gowns that fit wrong in some way.   But this, THIS, my friends, is how it's done.  Long live McQueen.  I know people frown on print on the red carpet, but this is a regal beauty.  Heavenly.  And with such a grandiose dress, she smartly kept the accessories to an absolute minimum and had super unfussy hair.  Love.

I'm a big fan of celeb-designer collaborations, and I LOVE that Octavia stuck with designer Tadashi Shoji all awards season.  And the designer did right by the Oscar-winner with this beaded cream gown.  It fits her perfectly, cinches in all the rich places, and the beaded design makes her figure all the better.  Now that is some figure-flattering stuff.  Can I have one?

I love Ellie Kemper. She seems really sweet and I want to root for her.  But I just cannot condone a dress that does not fit in the bust AT ALL.  You can't tell at this angle, but if she turned sideways, the top of the dress would be about 5 inches out from her actual bust.  It was very very not okay.

I have a ridiculous soft spot for polka dots. I don't know why, but I'm kinda sorta obsessed with them. Just seeing the makes me so happy.  But still I wouldn't have said before Sunday that polka dots had a place on the Oscars red carpet.  And I would have been wrong.  Because this vintage gown is perfectly Oscars.  So screen starlet of days gone by.  I want this dress. Like now.

On what was apparently a very cool night, I kinda love that Gwynnie wore a cape on the red carpet.  A mother freaking CAPE.  She is ridiculous. And amazing.  Ms. Goop took off the cape before the telecast to reveal a simple but supremely elegant white gown.  She looked simply perfect.

This look got a lot of flack, but I have no idea why. This was hands down my FAVORITE look of the night.  Big fat of seal of approval from EWP.  I love the color on her. I love the amount of fun she's obviously having. And I love love love myself a giant pussy bow.  This look is just amazing.  And I am beyond obsessed with her now.  Emma, if you're out there, can we be besties?  Okay, thanks.

Okay, now for the rest - I think this dress was so soft and feminine for the hard-edged actress. It was a breath of fresh air! Though, sadly, kinda boring for me.

Oscars 2012: Sandra Bullock

Sandra's nose was the talk of the night, but I will give her the benefit of the doubt and blame makeup for the different shape her nose took on Sunday night.

As for the dress, I love it.  I'm a fan of Marchesa generally (aside from the rosette disaster of Stacy Kiebler), and this two toned dress could have been boring, but the extra gold embellishments really just elevate this dress to be Oscar-worthy

I have a GIGANTIC girl crush on Rose Byrne. She is gorgeous.  And her be-banged bob (say that 10 times fast) has me swooning.  She can rock any look, and boy did she kill this sequined dress from Vivienne Westwood.  Sexy in all the right places without being slutty.  I'm in love.

Meryl can do no wrong in my eyes.... unless it has to do with the red carpet.  Sleeves are fab for a woman of her age, but all that sad gold cloth?  It looks like she stole some curtains from Versailles and just belted it around herself.  Meryl, I love you, but you are no Scarlet O'Hara.

George Clooney's awards season arm candy had been hitting it out of the park at every show. Until the biggest night of the season. Why did she wear this Marchesa??? It's all gold lame and crazy.  And that rosette on the hip looks like a tumor. No one wants creepy growths on the red carpet.

This dress looked so much better on tv, this picture makes it look super blah.  I thought it was really simple and lovely during the show. Very classic and beautiful, but this picture is just an oatmeal mess. *sigh* Now I'm torn.  So I leave it to you, what grade do you give this dress?

I feel like every awards ceremony, JLo is just trying to recreate the flurry of chatter over that Grammys dress.  Sorry, Jenny from the Block, we're not going to be wowed by another plunging neckline and sheer dress from you ever again, so PLEASE STOP WEARING THESE DRESSES.  I swear I was staring at areola for her entire presentation during the telecast. I kept expecting her chest to get blurred.  Just too much.

I liked the look when I saw her walking.  I enjoy the structured black dress. But then she kept sticking her leg out like .... that. WHY????? Why did she think that was a good look?  That's a lot of leg. And it's not okay. And she didn't just do it on the red carpet, she did it while presenting.  RIDICULOUS!

First off, let's debate this: do we think Viola was robbed? I haven't seen The Iron Lady and I always love Meryl, so I really can't say at this point, but people seem very upset about this.  So please do weigh in.

Now let's get talking clothes.

1) LOVE the color on her.

2) As said before, I LOVE her arms.  Love love.  Can I have them?

3) I do not like the top. At all.  Her bazooms are about to fall right out.  One wave to the crowd and we've got a nip slip on our hands.  Not okay.

4) WHAT IS GOING ON WITH HER HAIR????? She said her mom did it, which is nice of her to let her mom do that, but please, that color is not okay. And you're an Oscar winning actress. You can afford a professional color. Tsk tsk.
